  Environmental Policy

Xterm also has an environmental policy. Many areas are of ecological importance and it is therefore imperative that any measures undertaken do not affect non-target species in any way. The on site method statement would explain this in further detail.

Section 1 - Purpose of this Document

The purpose of this policy document is to set out the company's commitment in regard to environmental protection. If affords a publicly available, endorsed statement indicating the scope, commitment and objectives of management in regard to this topic.

The policy summarises the company's methods of controlling waste and managing its activities in such a manner as to reduce environmental effects and comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.

Section 2 - Statement of Director's Commitment

The company recognises that environmental issues are of fundamental importance in a successful and responsible business strategy.

We will take any reasonable practicable steps to prevent, minimise or render harmless the effect of operations, activities and products on the environment.

Section 3 - Statement of Company Policy

The company is committed to ensuring that its operations comply with the exisiting legislation.

The company will strive to use products, which have the minimum environmental impact during use and subsequent disposal.

The director is aware both of his duty of care as far as current legislation is concerned and also of his long-term duty towards the planet and future generations.

The company supports actions such as the Montreal Protocol, the Rio Earth Summit and the Kyoto Enterprise to prevent or minimise activities which may affect global temperatures, lead to depletion of the ozone layer, produce acid rain or otherwise disrupt and exhaust the Earth's life support systems,

The company will manage its use of primary energy sources in such a manner as to ensure efficient utilisation in all departments.

Systems have been adopted to minimise waste and to adequately control on-site consolidation and waste disposal activities.

The company controls its water usage.

The company undertakes to consider any reasonable comments from and provide information to site neighbours regarding its activities.

Resources will be allocated to implement this policy.

The company undertakes to train and educate its workforce in the relevant aspects of environmental best practices.

The company will seek expert guidance from other parties where in-house resources are considered inadequate.

A review of this policy will take place every two years.

The director is responsible for ensuring that all departments accept policy objectives and co-operate to comply with them.

Employees have a responsibility to ensure that company objectives, as laid down in this policy, are fulfilled.
